Harrow East MP Bob Blackman has found himself in a Sunday tabloid over allegations of an affair.
The Sunday Mirror yesterday published comments by a woman claiming to have had an 11-year affair with the married MP.
In the front-page article headlined ‘Caught with his Pants Down’, Carol Shaw, a former colleague of Mr Blackman, accused the MP of hypocrisy after he said that he believed marriage could only work between “one man and one woman”.
Mr Blackman and Ms Shaw were colleagues at Brent Borough Council.
Navin Shah, London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow, said: “During the 2008 London Assembly election campaign, when I stood against Mr Blackman, there were unsubstantiated rumours but I ignored those as I’ve always believed in good conduct and fought the election campaign strictly on the issues of concern to people rather than indulging in any form of mudslinging.
“However, now that the allegations have emerged, people of Harrow East who elected Mr Blackman need be told the truth and also be told what action Mr Blackman and the Conservative Association intend to take."
The Harrow Times has been unable to contact Mr Blackman for a comment.
