A former Harrow schoolboy has fulfilled his childhood promise to become a professional footballer.
Elvis Bwomono signed a three-year contract to play with the first team of League One club Southend United.
The 18-year-old graduated in 2015 from Hatch End High School in Headstone Lane, Harrow.
This advance in Elvis’ career comes as no surprise to his PE teachers, who remember him being very passionate about his football.
They described him as "enthusiastic" and "talented", knowing he would make it big in his career.
Hatch End High School is known for supporting students to achieve their dreams by putting in place flexible measures to ensure academic progress is never compromised.
Despite his young age, Elvis has had a very successful career in his current club.
He was named Southend United’s Youth Team Player of the Year in 2016 and made his debut for the Shrimpers’ first team in the Checkatrade Trophy against Gillingham FC last month.
During his sixth appearance with the club against Rochdale, Elvis was named man-of-the-match.
He said his dream has come true, adding: “It’s just wonderful for it to finally be happening at Southend.”
