A WEMBLEY fundraiser held a charity football tournament yesterday (Sunday) raising more than £1,100 for a children’s home in India.
Natasha Mansigani, 23, organised the five-a-side tournament to raise money for the Cornerstone Children's Home, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, in south India.
She started a project to raise money for the home in April. The tournament had 16 teams competing to win the Cornerstone Premier League title and was held at GOALS, in Alperton Lane, Wembley.
The two teams in the final were David FC and Team XS. David FC won the first league title.
Miss Mansigani said: “The response was incredible for the event and we’re really pleased with the amount of money raised.
"Everyone had a lot of fun on the day and I hope to do more events like this in the future.
“The main aim was to raise awareness as a prelude to registering the project as a non-profit charity.
"I hope to have the project registered as an official non-profit charity in the UK by the end of this year.”
