Young performers from Harrow have battled it out in the UK’s biggest glee club competition and have now reached the final.
Thirty-nine groups of over 1,000 young people took part in the Jack Petchey Glee Club challenge and have now been whittled down to 12 finalists, including Nower Hill High School from Pinner.
The final takes place on Sunday, March 3, at the London Palladium. The star-studded judging panel will include actress Tamzin Outhwaite, West End actor and Celebrity MasterChef winner John Partridge, EastEnders actor Danny-Boy Hatchard, and SuRise, who represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018.
Previous winners of the challenge include RE:VERB, which starred singer and guitarist Ruti Olajugbagbe, who has since gone on to be crowned the winner of ITV’s The Voice UK 2018.
The Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge is a musical theatre programme for young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex. Since first applying on the programme, the groups of young performers have taken part in free bootcamps and workshops with theatre and music industry professionals to develop their skills, as they prepared to perform on stage.
As well as offering the chance to perform on a big stage, the programme helps to encourage young people to develop their confidence and gain new skills.
The final takes place on Sunday, March 3, at the London Palladium.
