Jez Butterworth’s play Jerusalem is set to be brought to the stage, courtesy of amateur dramatics company Pinner Players.
The contemporary classic, which contains scenes of drug taking, violence and some strong language, is a somewhat risky and controversial play for the society, whose members are better known for their Alan Ayckbourne renditions.
However, members of Pinner Players are hoping to reach out to new audiences with this performance, without alienating regulars.
The play is set just outside the West Country village of Flintock in a clearing in the woods where a caravan is occupied by Johnny 'Rooster' Byron, who has lived there for 30 years and has survived all attempts to evict him.
While unpopular with the new estate, the local youths are drawn to his personality, his supply of drugs and his alcohol.
Jerusalem will be performed by the Pinner Players from February 21 until February 23, at Pinner Hall, Chapel Lane, Pinner, from 7.45pm. Details: 01923 827432
