The newly opened Attic Gallery in Pinner hosts Retrospective: A Murmuration of Starlings this month, a collection of 36 watercolours by Sidney W Starling, who moved to Pinner in 1942 and was a founder member of what became the Pinner Sketch Club.
The exhibition includes Pinner locales, the south coast, flowers, still life and exotic lands, most of which were painted between 1940 and 1980, during which time he was also doing charitable work for the blind. He was awarded an MBE for having managed the Royal Institute for the Blind in London.
- Retrospective: A Murmuration of Starlings is at Attic Gallery, High Street, Pinner from Saturday, August 4 to Thursday, August 16. Gallery opening hours: 9am to 5.30pm. Details: www.linesofpinner.co.uk/theattic
