Harrow Borough Council staff have celebrated Diwali in style with a colourful event in the council chamber.
On November 6, the council celebrated the Hindu Festival of Light with singing and dancing at the Civic Centre, in Station Road.
The event was opened by Dr Parmar, the spiritual leader of the Siddhashram Shakti Centre, who led prayers.
There was then dancing and singing in the decorated chamber.
Following the performance guests were incited to a communal lunch of Diwali delicacies.
Harrow portfolio holder for community and cultural services, Councillor David Perry, said: “Diwali is a fantastically vibrant and colourful celebration.
“Diwali brings people of all different communities together to celebrate.
“Harrow has a wonderful tradition of doing this and therefore on behalf of the council I would like to thank the local Hindu community for allowing us the opportunity to be part of this wonderfully inclusive event and wish everyone a happy Diwali.”
