The number of students in Harrow applying for university places has fallen by nearly ten per cent in the last year.
According to Harrow West MP, Gareth Thomas, the number of university applications from Harrow students fell by 9.2 per cent this year compared to last year’s figures.
Mr Thomas believes that the fall in applications is a result of the introduction of £9,000 a year fees.
He said: "These figures suggest that the ambitions and university aspirations of many young people from Harrow have taken a big hit as a result of the huge hike in tuition fees.
“David Cameron just doesn't understand just how much £9,000 fees are making young people think twice about going into Higher Education."
