A councillor has described the vandalism of Harrow’s festive lights as “abhorrent”.

On Tuesday night the St Ann’s Road light garden, which was set up for the festive period, was vandalised.

One of the ‘snowdrop’ lights was broken and a tree was snapped.

The police have been informed and the damage has now been repaired.

Harrow Borough Council portfolio holder for regeneration and planning, Cllr Keith Ferry, said: "Our unique eye-catching light garden is a perfect way to mark Diwali and brings a smile and festive cheer to town centre shoppers.

"This mindless act of vandalism is abhorrent and we have reported it to the police.

"Thankfully we were able to quickly make good the damage so visitors to our vibrant town centre can continue to enjoy the fabulous display."
