A group of GCSE students from Pinner are organising a Bollywood night in memory of a friend who died of a bone marrow condition.
Year 11 students at Nower Hill High School, in George V Avenue, are holding the night of dancing, singing and comedy in memory of Devaanshi Mehta.
The event will take place at Nower Hill on Saturday.
The organisers hope that more than 200 people will attend, and that they will raise hundreds of pounds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
They chose to support the hospital as Devaanshi, who died of chronic lung disease and aplastic anaemia, in July at the age of 15, was treated there.
Royan Khayri, who had been friends with Devaanshi since primary school, said: “I thought we should do something good.
“I didn’t want the final story on her to be about her death.
“I knew her since primary school. I did a speech at her funeral.
“I am happy that we are now doing this – she would have been pleased.”
Devaanshi, who lived in Manor Road, Harrow, was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia at the age of nine.
Despite two bone marrow transplant from her younger brother, she lost her battle with the disease at 15.
Speaking about the Bollywood night plans, Royan said: “Everyone has done their little bit and we want to do a big night where everyone can get involved.”
This is not the first fundraising event the students have been involved in for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
At the beginning of the summer they raised £800 by holding a cake sale at the school’s sports day.
