A Kenton primary school is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a new ‘outstanding’ status from Ofsted.
Mount Stewart Junior School, in Mount Stewart Avenue, was inspected in October and has just learnt that it will now be rated ‘outstanding’.
This is the highest award received by the school in its 60 year history.
Headteacher, Bindu Rai who has just completed her first year at the school, said: “The school’s motto is ‘Life-long learners reach great heights’ – it reflects the high ambitions that the school community has for themselves.
“Part of the transformation of the school has been the establishment of a harmonious and cohesive community built around shared values and ambitions.”
She added: “We know that there is always more to do, our core purpose is to make pupil outcomes even better.”
