Harrow Borough Council is set to approve plans for a new sports and leisure complex in Stanmore.
The council will discuss proposals to revamp Whitchurch Playing Fields at a cabinet meeting tomorrow.
The plans include installing a new pavilion with 12 changing rooms, a function hall, kitchen and café.
The new complex will also include eight football pitches, two cricket pitches and a horticultural area for schools.
Implementing the plans will cost about £3 million and will be funded by the Whitchurch Fields Consortium.
The playing fields will be used by Stanburn First, Stanburn Junior, Whitchurch First and Nursery and Whitchurch Junior schools.
Age UK Harrow will also be able to use the pavilion for its Silver Surfer and Fit as a Fiddle schemes.
Harrow Council leader, Councillor Thaya Idaikkadar, said: “The new complex will provide good quality modern leisure facilities at no cost to taxpayers.
“There is a shortage of good quality outdoor sports pitches across the borough so I am delighted to see such a tremendous level of support from the community for our plans.
“Our residents deserve excellent sports facilities and I hope that, as part of the legacy of the Olympics, this will encourage the whole borough to lead healthy and active lifestyles.”
The council argues that the playing fields are currently underused and that this development would bring them back into full use.
