The MP for Brent Central has welcomed an announcement by the government that Brent will receive £4.6 million to help poor toddlers.
Liberal Democrat Sarah Teather has welcomed the news that Brent will receive £4,641,660 to deliver 15 hours' a week of free early years education to the poorest two-year-olds by 2014.
The poorest 20 per cent of two-year-olds will receive the education from September 2012 and that will rise to include the poorest 40 per cent by 2014.
Ms Teather said: “I believe education is the best way we can help children succeed in life.
“This money will help our children overcome disadvantaged backgrounds and serve as a welcome boost for hard-pressed families in Brent.
“Early years education is tremendously important for our children in Brent and across Britain.
“I am pleased that this extra funding will help out two-year-olds in Brent have the best start in life.”
