Harrow children can receive extra classes in English, Maths and Science will be on offer thanks to a grant of £75,000.
Harrow Borough Council received the grant of to help pay for Harrow Supplementary Schools’ Forum which will run the extra classes at six schools on Saturday mornings.
The money has been donated by the John Lyon’s Charity and will be spend over the next three years at the schools, which have achieved the national Quality Framework Bronze Award.
Councillor Mitzi Green, portfolio holder for children, schools and families, said: “It is good news that pupils who attend these supplementary schools will be able to benefit from this additional funding.
“This money will go towards providing extra support to pupils who need it and help them to reach or exceed their expected grade targets.”
The supplementary schools which have been chosen so far include the Iranian School based at Belmont First School, the KPS Gujarati School based at Kenmore Park School, Middlesex Tamil Academy at Harrow High School, the Tamil Hendon School at Canons High School and the Somali Cultural and Educational Association.
