Hundreds braved the cold conditions for the annual Christmas light switch-on in Harrow town centre.
Families from across the borough watched the ceremony with the Mayor of Harrow Nizam Ismail and X Factor contestant Kye Sones in the town centre on Saturday December 1.
Mr Sones said: “I’ve barely had time to come back home since leaving the X-factor so it’s great to be back and actually spend some time here for once.
“The support from my home fans has been amazing and everyone has been lovely which I’m really grateful for.”
Councillor Keith Ferry, said: “Kye did Harrow proud on the X Factor and he showed everybody just how talented he is once again tonight.
“Supporting the town centre and local businesses is a top priority for the council, they are at the heart of our communities and we want them to thrive.
He added: “It was a great evening and I hope shoppers keep coming back throughout December.”
Lights in Station Road, College Road and St Ann’s Road were switched on, and entertainment was provided by DJs from Northwick Park Hospital's radio station, with chairman of the radio charity Matt Blank helping switch on the lights.
He said: “Despite the biting cold, the people of Harrow came out in full force to enjoy the festive celebrations.
“It was a true honour to host such a prestigious and enjoyable event to kick-start Christmas in Harrow.”
Zara Bryson and David Reece, from Radio Northwick Park, warmed up the crowd from 4pm while families enjoyed the festivities.
Ms Bryson said: The evening was a lot of fun and a great way to kick-start December.
