An 83-year-old man has died following a hit and run in Watford town centre.
Police were called to Exchange Road at the junction with the High Street on Saturday at about 4.20pm, following reports a man had been hit by a car.
He has been named as Donald Burnett from Harrow.
The octogenarian received serious injuries and was taken to Watford General Hospital for treatment, but was transferred to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington shortly afterwards. He later died from his injuries.
Part of the ring road was closed while paramedics treated the man and the scene was investigated.
The vehicle believed to be involved in the accident did not stop at the scene, but the driver was located a short time later by police investigating the incident.
Anyone who saw what happened is urged to call police on non-emergency number 101.
