A Harrow dog owner and his spry Weimaraner have achieved "every handler's dream" by qualifying for a national agility contest - with the dog making it a first for his breed.
Alan Score and his dog Havok have qualified for the Kennel Club’s Olympia Agility Stakes at London Olympia on December 19.
Mr Score, who has been competing with Havok for four years, said: “I have qualified at least one of my dogs every year to the semi-final and last year missed out on qualifying by just one place.
“To have even qualified for Olympia and the experience of just being there with Havok is every handler's dream.
“Havok is the first ever Weimaraner to actually qualify for the Olympia Anything But Collies final so I am really looking forward to December 19th to compete in the final.”
The country’s most talented agility dogs and handlers have been vying with each other in qualifying heats at agility shows across the country to gain a place in the finals.
The Kennel Club Olympia Agility Stakes will see dogs and their owners compete in five finals, in the small, medium, large, novice and ABC (Anything But Collies) categories.
There will also be two semi-finals for the novices and large dogs, which will see 36 dogs in each category whittled down to ten who will go on to compete in the finals.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: “The Olympia Agility Stakes is one of the major dog agility events in the UK each year and provide a real spectacle in the run up to Christmas.
“We would like to congratulate Alan and look forward to what is set to be another exciting year for the event.”
