The chairman of the Football Association will be launching an educational DVD about the Holocaust this afternoon.
David Bernstein will be at Park High School, in Thistlecroft Gardens, Stanmore, from 2pm until 4pm.
While there he will speak to a class of Year 10 students and he will launch the new educational resource.
The DVD, which has been produced by the Holocaust Educational Trust in partnership with the Football Association, will be delivered to all secondary schools across England.
It is called Introduction to the Holocaust: Footballers Remember, and was put together following a visit the England football squad made to Auschwitz in June 2012.
The DVD is accompanied by lesson plans and features well known England players discussing why they feel it is important to learn about the Holocaust.
It includes footage of the England team’s visit to the camp as well as archive footage.
Narrated by Sky Sports presenter Ben Shephard, the DVD also includes testimony from a number of Holocaust survivors.
Mr Bernstein said: “This educational partnership brings together the important work of teaching future generations about the horrors of the Holocaust, using the ability of football to interest and engage young people.
“There are so many lessons to be learnt and understood, and we believe football can play its part in encouraging society to speak out against intolerance in all its forms.
“I am proud that Roy Hodgson and the England team are supporting such an important initiative and I would encourage all English schools to take advantage of the learning materials that have been created.”
