A 58-year-old Harrow man who has undergone three heart operations will be walking from London to Brighton to raise money for charity.
Gary Glazerman, his wife Liz, daughter Jacqueline and her partner Marcus are all taking part in the event on June 22 and 23 for the British Heart Foundation.
They will have less than 30 hours to complete the 100km trek.
Mr Glazerman was born with congenital heart disease and has had three open-heart operations, with the most recent in March last year.
He said: “We all need to take our health seriously, especially the health of our hearts.
“I like to get out and walk around six times a week and since becoming more active I have lost more than four stone in weight.”
Mr Glazerman added: “I am sure we will all be looking forward to a long hot soak in the bath after this and vowing never again, but I know the sense of achievement will be huge and any amount of money that we can raise for the BHF will be worth the aches and pains.”
