Eight couples chose the most romantic day of the year to get married at Harrow Register Office.
The couples tied the knot on Valentine’s Day and, to mark the event, each was given a rose by Harrow Borough Council.
Among those saying “I do” were Matthew Barker, 22, and Heshani Rajapaksha Mudiyanselage, 27.
Mr Barker said: “We had a lovely wedding and a beautiful service.
“It was very nice to get married here and we had a lovely ceremony.
“We were pleased to get married on Valentine’s Day. It was a bit of a coincidence; I just rang up to see what dates they had free and when they said February 14 we thought we’d go for it.”
The couples exchanged vows in the borough, which has more married people than anywhere in London.
The latest census revealed that 53.7 per cent of people living in the borough are married – well above the national average of 46.6 per cent.
