A furniture designer from Pinner is being commemorated with an English Heritage blue plaque on Wednesday.
Sir Ambrose Heal, of The Fives Court, in Moss Lane, died in 1959 and was a pioneer of modern design.
Mr Heal introduced the use of simple, practical lines in furniture and making quality craftsmanship accessible to the middle classes.
He was knighted in 1933 and appointed a royal designer for industry in 1939.
On his death he was described by The Times as “one of the great artists and craftsmen of his time.”
The plaque will be unveiled on February 27 at 2.30pm by Mr Heal’s grandson, Oliver Heal.
The date marks 120 years exactly since he joined the family firm, Heal’s.
