Businesses have started buying bricks to help build a new museum to celebrate the work of a local illustrator.
The West House and Heath Robinson Trust launched its campaign last month for the new Heath Robinson Museum to be built in Pinner in memory of William Heath Robinson, a cartoonist and illustrator best known for his elaborate but logical contraptions.
The trust is inviting people to pay towards the new building, at a cost of £25 per brick.
Pinner businesses Yummy Home and The New Leaf Bookshop have already bought virtual bricks and are calling on others to do the same to help raise £430,000.
Volunteer fundraiser Veronica Chamberlain said: “We have already raised £155,000 from charitable foundations including Garfield Weston and the Foyle Foundation.
“Backing from such prestigious foundations shows what an important project this is. Now we are confident that local people and businesses will get behind it.”
Anyone can buy a brick for the museum fund and those interested can do so by clicking here.
The new museum will be next to West House in Pinner Memorial Park, and will tell the story of Heath Robinson’s life, with a gallery and activity room for schools and children.
