A campaigning councillor called for a delay before scrapping an hour's free parking in a shopping area.
Speaking at a meeting of Harrow Borough Council this evening, Cllr James Bond called for the authority not to cut the hour of free parking at North Harrow’s Cambridge Road car park.
Instead he called for delay to any changes until an alternative free parking option was put in place.
Cllr Bond collected more than 3,352 signatures from people in North Harrow against new charges that will cost drivers 80p an hour.
Following an extended debate, councillors agreed the issue of the petition should be passed to the council cabinet for examination.
