A review by the council cabinet of 20 minute free parking for the whole borough will take place tomorrow.

There will be a special meeting of Harrow Borough Council’s cabinet to look at the 20 minutes free parking initiative for a second time.

The meeting comes after the call-in sub-committee referred the issue back to cabinet last week.

Six councillors challenged the original decision made by the cabinet two months ago to scrap the policy, which was trialed in Rayners Lane over the summer.

The committee upheld the challenge on four counts, including inadequate consultation with stakeholders and the absence of adequate evidence on which to base the decision.

The call-in was also upheld on the grounds it was not proportionate to the desired outcome and there had been insufficient consideration of financial advice.

The meeting will take place at 7pm at the Harrow Council Civic Centre.
