The operator of the borough’s leisure facilities says it will work to provide alternative climbing facilities after the closure of Harrow climbing wall.

The comments come after campaigner called on the Harrow Borough Council to ask its leisure centre operator Everyone Active to put a halt to the closure on Sunday.

The wall is the only one in the borough and is due to close and be converted into a squash court.

A spokeswoman for Everyone Active said: “We are working with Harrow Council to develop and improve facilities at Harrow Leisure Centre and will support any decision the council makes regarding the facility mix at the centre.

“Harrow Council is working with the climbing wall company to find a new location for an improved climbing facility in the leisure centre.

“While this is going on, the council is looking into alternative arrangements for climbers in the local area.”
