Two cousins who have taken on a gruelling challenge of 12 marathons in 12 months are preparing for their final run.
Since January this year Dominic Miles, 34, from Harrow, and his cousin Thomas Whitney, 37, have been running a marathon a month to raise money for two medical charities.
Money raised from their huge effort will be going to charity Tommy’s, which funs medical research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.
They will also be donating money to Doctors Without Borders, which provides medical an humanitarian aid to people affected by conflict and disasters in more than 60 countries.
Mr Whitney said: “We only decided to do it in December last year so it was quite late for us to prepare.
"We have done marathons together before and I think the main reason we decided to do it was for the challenge.
“It has been really tough and the body is falling apart. We don’t have any time to really train for them so we just try and rest as much as possible before hitting the road.
“Each one has been really hard and when I get started running I wonder how I ever did the others.”
In order to complete their challenge they have done a mix of official events, like the London Marathon, and completed their own routes, sometimes after a full day’s work.
For their final marathon effort the pair will be running from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace on December 22 in homage to the 1908 Olympic event.
The pair are still fundraising before the final run and anyone interested in sponsoring them can do so by clicking here.
