The future of the position of chief executive at Harrow Borough Council could be decided this week.
Councillors are set to consider the role of the authority's most senior officer tomorrow evening, which could see the position scrapped by the end of the week.
In the meeting of the chief officer’s employment panel, from which the press and public are excluded for confidentiality reasons, councillors are set to discuss the severance payment of the chief executive.
The meeting will also discuss the possible appointment of an interim head of paid service for the authority.
Last month council leader Councillor Susan Hall announced plans to scrap the position of chief executive Michael Lockwood.
This was followed by a 30-day consultation into the proposals, which ended on Friday.
