A trader has described his shock after a man fell to his death close to his business on a busy shopping day.
Emergency services were called to Kymberley Road outside St George's Shopping Centre on Saturday at 9.55am to reports that a person had fallen from the car park.
The man was treated London Ambulance crews and a doctor from the London Air Ambulance, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fahad Kahn, who was working at the B&S news stand in the St George's Centre on the day, said: “I was just watching the shop when I heard what happened. I was shocked.
“For something like that to happen on busy shopping day near Christmas is just horrible. I saw all the police arrive and they closed down the whole road for a long time.
“I have only been working here a couple of months and I can’t believe something like this would happen.
“The whole shopping centre seemed quiet for the rest of the day and everyone was stunned by what had happened.”
Commenting on the Harrow Times website, Laura2339 said: “I was one of the witnesses of this incident and it was horrific to see.
“The man landed just metres away from me. I was only on my way to work around the corner.
“I’m just glad there were no children around at the time as it would have traumatised them for life.”
Roads were closed for several hours as emergency services recovered the body.
The incident on Saturday is not the first time there has been a fall from the top of the shopping centre.
In February this year a man in his 40s was taken to hospital after falling from the roof and in October 2011 a man died after falling from the fourth floor inside the centre.
A spokesman for the shopping centre told the Harrow Times on the day of the incident members of the St George’s Shopping Centre security team were in attendance.
They added that management and staff work to ensure the safety, security and comfort of visitors to the centre.
