The father of a teenage footballer killed outside his school says it is important to return to the area his son grew up in for a charity football match.
Kiyan Prince was stabbed in an attack outside the London Academy, in Spur Road, on May 18, 2006.
A match in the 15-year-old's memory will take place at the Hive Football centre in Camrose Avenue, Edgware on Sunday at 5.30pm.
Proceeds will go towards the The Kiyan Prince Foundation, which was founded by his father Mark to inspire teenagers and move them away from knife crime.
Speaking to the Harrow Times, Mr Prince said: “I feel it is important to come back to Edgware because with all the work I have done with the foundation I feel I should do more here.
“This is where Kiyan grew up and when he was killed it really shocked the community.
“Ever since what happened, there has always been something inside of me driving me forward and I want to create a positive legacy from Kiyan’s life.
“I'm able to show young people the effects of knife crime and the suffering it causes. What I want to do is help them realise their potential and show them what they can achieve.”
As part of his work with the foundation Mr Prince talks to teenagers in schools and youth groups about the impact of knife crime.
This year marks the eighth anniversary since his death and football players will come together to raise money for the charity.
The free event on Sunday will see Celeb FC and Warrior Old Boys play matches against each other and there will also be face painting, food, music and a raffle draw.
Kiyan Prince was a member of Queens Park Rangers youth football team. In support of the charity match the club has donated shirts for one of the teams to play in on the day.
