A fitness instructor has vowed to go back and complete one of the world's toughest obstacle races after injury forced her to pull out.
Julia Buckley, 37, from Harrow-on-the-Hill took part in the Fisherman’s Friend Strongman Run at the Nürburgring as part of Team GB.
She and her team were competing against 11,900 other runners who faced 17 obstacles including swamps of quicksand, electric shocks and water slides which left participants submerged in ice cold water.
However, due to extremely tough weather conditions and injury, Ms Buckley was forced to pull out of the second lap of the 15-mile course along with 1,080 others.
She said: “I didn’t leave the race lightly, but it was a really tough course. After plunging into the ice cold water on the last obstacle of lap one, I was hit hard in the back.
“I tried to struggle on but I was in agony. I’m gutted not to have finished, but for my own safety I had to finish the race early.
“I guess now I’m just going to have to go back and complete the Strongman Race another year. I won’t let it beat me.”
