A group of parishioners, including the vicar, recently had a meeting with the leader of Harrow Borough Council because they are worried about the cancellation of weddings funerals and public meetings because of the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), which has been set up outside St Anselm’s Church.
They were told at this meeting that the wedding car and funeral car could park, but all the wedding guests and mourners would have to find alternative parking.
This means the bride can have a wedding with no guests and the funeral can take place without mourners.
So with that in mind, we are starting a petition to get more than 2,000 signatures so this matter can be put back on the agenda to be discussed at the next full council meeting.
We must save this beautiful Victorian neo-Gothic church, which has been in existence since 1895. We hope the residents of Hatch End will support us by signing our petition.
Cllr Stanley Sheinwald
UKIP/Hatch End ward, Harrow Borough Council
