Police officers will be dropping in at a Hindu temple once a month to discuss crime and anti-social behaviour.
The Siddhashram Shakti Centre, in Palmerston Road, Wealdstone, will be opening its doors on the first Tuesday of every month for a police surgery.
Officers from Harrow police will attend the temple for people from all communities to talk about any issues they may have in their area.
Borough commander Simon Ovens said: “There are parts of the community that for cultural reasons are sometimes reluctant to talk to the police.
“By having the monthly surgery here we will be able to talk to people in a place they feel comfortable and can talk to an officer in confidence.
“We’re very grateful to be able to work with the temple and have the surgery here.”
The temple's spiritual leader Dr Rajeshji Parmar said: “It’s important to us the temple is used by the whole community and we hope people will be more comfortable to come here and speak to police if they have a problem.”
