Teams of lawyers are preparing to test their general knowledge in a competition to find Harrow's legal MasterMinds.
The Harrow Times has teamed up the mental health charity Mind in Harrow for the second year to put on the MasterMind in Harrow competition.
Last year, schools competed for the prize. This year, six legal firms working in and around Harrow have signed up teams of four for the University Challenge-style quiz at the historic Grims Dyke Hotel in February next year.
One firm taking part is Blavo & Co Solicitors, which specialises in mental health law as well as public and criminal law.
Elaine Addy, who is leading the firm's team, said: “As captain of ‘Team Blavo’ I got to know my team better at our photo-shoot, and have the pleasure of introducing our brainiacs.
“We have Joanne ‘I don’t know why they chose me, I don’t know anything’ Day; Tony ‘I suggest you airbrush out the old bloke’ Jeffrey; and Daniel ‘Know it all’ Weintroub.
“You can guess where we’re laying all our eggs…”
In preparation for the contest the team will be meeting regularly for training until the day of the event, brushing up on topics such as history, science and the law.
Between now and the big contest in February next year, each team form the six firms will have to raise a £1,200 entry fee which will go to the charity.
The event has built on the success of the first competition which took place earlier this year and saw pupils from six different schools battle it out at Harrow School to be crowned the smartest in the borough.
The first MasterMind in Harrow, which was also organised in collaboration with the Harrow Times, raised more than £7,000 for the charity which supports people with mental health issues across the borough.
This year people are also able to show their support to those taking part by donating to the charity online here.
