The Harrow Times has asked each parliamentary candidate to list five reasons why they should become an MP at the General Election on May 7.
Here the Labour Party candidate for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner Michael Borio explains why you should vote for him.
1) My local roots and strong dedication to helping Harrow residents. I have lived in Harrow since I was three years old and last year I was elected to Harrow Council to represent Queensbury ward. If I'm elected on May 7 I would be a full-time MP and live in the constituency.
2) As someone who believes in the NHS and has depended on the NHS in the past I would fight for extra investment in our local NHS services including at Northwick Park, Mount Vernon and Harefield hospitals.
3) I would work with Harrow Council to successfully regenerate Harrow, including the town centre, especially following the recent award by the GLA of £32 million of regeneration funding to Harrow.
4) I would oppose any future plans for a third runway at Heathrow. However I would seek to work with the airport to support its economic development and to keep it open in the future for jobs which would be put at risk should Conservative-run Hillingdon Council attempt to close it.
5) Work with both Harrow Council and Hillingdon Labour Party to increase housing supply in both boroughs. In Harrow we have an ambitious housebuilding programme, including the first council homes being built in three decades. Meanwhile in Hillingdon I'm supporting a campaign by Hillingdon Labour Party to build an additional 400 council properties so desperately needed in the borough.
