A barista is celebrating being the ‘crema’ of the Starbucks crop after winning the district round of a national competition.
Chris Moore, who works in Starbucks in the St Georges Centre in Harrow, made it past the first stage of the Starbucks annual Barista Championship in Britain competition and has become a district winner for London.
Contestants in the first round were put to the test with a personal coffee tasting round, followed by a demonstration of their bar skills and a coffee knowledge quiz.
Chris said: “I wake up to a coffee every morning so it is only fitting that I work in a coffee shop.
“I’m delighted to have become the district champion in the barista championship.”
The coffee addict, who says his favourite brew is a simple filter coffee, explained that the company has resorted back to ‘push button’ coffee machines to save time and prevent queues.
