The Harrow Times has asked each parliamentary candidate to list five reasons why they should become MP at the general election on May 7.
Here trade unionist and socialist coalition (TUSC) candidate Wally Kennedy explains why you should vote for them for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner.
1) I am standing because I want to help to enthuse and inspire others to join us and organise to change the world - and not the size of my wallet.
2) I will continue to campaign for the building of eco-friendly Council Homes with secure tenancies and real Affordable Housing for all. In the meantime - cap and reduce rents in the private sector to enable workers etc to be housed near to their jobs/schools etc.
3) Tuition fees must be abolished and Student debt written off. They should be given a Living Grant.
4) The minimum wage must immediately be increased to £10 an hour with financial support for small employers/business.
5) The banks should be brought into Public Ownership and control. All Tax loopholes must be closed thereby increasing tax income by £120 Billion per annum. The super-rich should be subject to 60% tax on their unearned profits of £280 Billion accrued during 2008/2013. The major companies/corporations should be taxed at 60% on their hoarded cash reserves of £780 Billion. These actions alone would allow for the financing of the above and see the beginning of a National sustainable plan to meet the needs of the millions and not the greed of the multi-millionaires.
