Young musicians and disabled people will benefit this year from the Mayor of Harrow's chosen charities.
At an event in the Mayor’s Parlour, the new Mayor of Harrow Cllr Krishna Suresh officially announced his two chosen charities for his term.
Representatives from both charities, the Harrow Association for Disabled People and Harrow Young Musicians, attended the launch where the Mayor spoke about how he admired the work that both charities carry out for residents across the borough.
He said: “The charities I have chosen are very close to my heart. I hope that during my year as Mayor I can help raise their profile and help them to make difference in Harrow.
“Each time I meet the representatives of the charities I am inspired by the dedication and enthusiasm they have, and today was no different.
“I look forward to working with them in the coming months.”
At the event, Dr Parmar from the International Siddashram Shakti Centre donated £501 to the mayor’s charities, which will be split equally between the two charities.
It is traditional in Hindu culture when donating that the total amount ends in a one, which is considered lucky.
