Harrow Council has asked for a commitment from Transport for London to keep running key bus routes in Harrow now facing closure because of proposed cuts.
Services 142, 292, 107 and 258 are under threat after Hertfordshire County Council proposed cutting £390,000 of annual funding it gives to TfL to run the routes.
In a letter to TfL commissioner Mike Brown, Cllr David Perry, leader of Harrow Council, said the routes were "key links" in the borough - particularly Edgware and Stanmore.
He said: "They provide links from travel hubs in the borough to Watford and Borehamwood, and are well used by school children, both in and out of the borough, and commuters.
"The 107, 142 and 292 all serve the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore – it is imperative that patients can still use public transport to get to their appointments and family members can visit loved ones.
"The 258 goes through Harrow town centre, and will be a vital transport link to a main high street as a part of our ambitious plans to build a better Harrow.
"On behalf of the residents in Harrow that rely on these services, I am writing to you to seek a commitment that Transport for London will continue to fund these bus routes on their current timetables if Hertfordshire County Council are forced to remove their subsidy due to Government cuts to their budget."
