I struggle to think of a sitcom more quintessentially British than Fawlty Towers, in which Basil Fawlty and his bossy wife, Sybil attempt to run a hotel amid farcical situations and guests.
Despite being set in a town in Devon, Torquay, three scenes were filmed here in Harrow. Including one that is arguably the most notorious of all the episodes. Can you guess which one? Perhaps you know already...

This scene was filmed on the corner of Mentmore Close, where it meets Lapstone Gardens. Do you know the spot?

This was not the only scene filmed far away from its setting in Torquay. In the fifth episode of the first series, Gourmet Night, the couple visit the restaurant of André, who helped them employ their chef, Kurt, and of course chaos ensues with love, drunkeness and a mishap with a duck and a trifle.
The restuarant however, is on Preston Road and you may know it as Wings.

Finally, Northwick Park Hospital was used in the opening titles for episode six of the first series, The Germans, in which the European guests are a little too much for the hotel to handle.
