A care home for people with learning disabilities came together to celebrate Diwali with two days of special events.
High Worple, in Rayners Lane, marked the Festival of Lights with a meal prepared by residents and staff before lighting sparklers in the grounds of the home.
The next day, to welcome the Hindu New Year, residents travelled to Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Stanmore for prayers and celebration.
It follows days of Navaratri festivities, where those at the home took part in a number of dancing activities in honour of the goddess Durga.
Service manager Dina Devshi said: “Our residents are all practicing Hindus, so Diwali is a very important part of their calendar each year.
“This choice by our residents to have some fireworks is an example of them playing a key role in the development of their service, helping to shape events and activities.”
