Brent Council is calling on the public to have their say over new development projects in the borough.
It is holding a consultation on the supplementary planning document (SPD1), which sets out the principles new developments must abide by in order to gain planning permission.
These include things such as respecting the character, landscape, streetscape, architectural and historic environment of the area.
Applicants must also ensure that the developments are of an appropriate size, scale and mass in design which goes well with the surroundings.
Cllr Shama Tatler, responsible for regeneration, highways and planning at Brent Council, said: “We are very much open to new development in Brent and it’s important that new buildings are to the standard and appropriate design that our residents want to see in the borough.
“That’s why this document is so important, as it will set out the principles by which future applications will be judged.”
The SPD1 went through a consultation between July 6 and August 17 last year but significant recommendations mean the council is turning to the public once more.
Cllr Tatler said this is a clear example of the local authority listening to those who live and work in the borough and allowing them to contribute towards important policies.
She added: “The opinions given by residents, businesses and developers really do matter and I’d encourage everyone to have their say.”
The consultation closes on July 5, with more information available on Brent Council’s website.
