A councillor has expressed his sadness and shock after two Hindu temples were robbed after their Diwali celebrations.
The Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple, in Westfield Lane, Harrow, was broken into on Tuesday.
It happened just a few days after three “beloved idols” were stolen from the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Brent.
This was shortly after Diwali and Hindu New Year festivities at both places of worship, when Hindus from all over north-west London came together to celebrate.
Cllr Nitesh Hirani, who represents Kenton East, where the Harrow temple is situated, said it was another example of unacceptable crime in his area.
“Very sad and concerned to hear that yet another Hindu temple has been broken into.
“This is a wake-up call for everybody. All organisations, politicians, communities and individuals must take further actions.
“This is Great Britain – law and order is our country’s pride. The current increased crime is beyond our tolerance.
“The relevant authorities must provide more resources to our community to ensure there’s more safety which will enable us to tackle the increased crime in the area.”
