A MASS rally supporting the NHS is being held in Trafalgar Square this weekend.
The I NHS rally on Saturday has been organised by NHS Together, a unique alliance of unions and organisations set up to support the NHS, and protest against the idea of competition within it.
The rally has celebrity backing from the likes of explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, comedian Arthur Smith and comic actress Tamsin Grieg, a star of comedy series Green Wing.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes said: "I love the NHS because they saved me from certain death following a massive heart attack.
Also, when my wife of 36 years was terminally ill with cancer, the NHS looked after her diligently and with expertise and patience."
Messages from NHS staff and patients will be shown on a giant TV screen in the square.
There will also be music from the Alabama 3.
Marchers will assemble at 11am on Victoria Embankment, before the march to Trafalgar Square, for the afternoons activities at noon and the rally is expected to finish at around 4.30pm.
