Plans for 40 flats with basement car parking were approved as Brent Council accepted changes from a previously approved development.
Its planning committee unanimously approved a scheme in Kenton Road, at the junction with Rushout Avenue yesterday evening (Wednesday, January 13).
The proposals will provide 40 new flats in a building up to four storeys high alongside 30 car parking spaces for new residents.
It follows on from a previous scheme at the site for 39 flats, which was granted permission in 2018.
The former two-storey homes at the site have been demolished since then, paving the way for a new development.
And Brent Council officers said the introduction of an additional unit, as well as an extension to one of the one-bed flats, was acceptable.
Despite this, there were nine objections to the new plans – including three from councillors – which outlined a number of potential issues.
These included concerns around the impact on traffic and parking in the vicinity, as well as the height and scale of the development which at four storeys, they argued, would be “out of character with the local area”.
However, planning officers, and the entire planning committee, agreed that the new proposals, as with the older ones, were fair.
