All staff and residents at a Harrow Weald care home are now fully vaccinated from Covid-19.
Barchester’s Wilsmere House care home has announced that all staff and residents have now received both doses of their Covid-19 vaccinations.
With all members now protected, the care home can begin to look forward to returning back to a sense of normality from the pandemic.
General Manager, Lili Cocue said: “We’ve all been through such a difficult time and this feels like such a big step on the way to getting back to some normality.
“I am so proud of the team and how they have worked together and continue to do so and we are all so grateful to be prioritised to receive the vaccine first. Now that everyone in the home has had both doses, we can start to work towards getting life in the home back to a new normal, but we know there is a lot of work to do in order to get there.”
This comes after Health Secretary Matt Hancock stated that Harrow has “led the way” on how to achieve vaccination targets in a “very diverse population”.
According to Mr Hancock, over 80 per cent of people aged 80 and over and in care homes, have now received a Covid vaccination jab.
In a letter addressed to Harrow East MP Bob Blackman, and Harrow West MP Gareth Thomas, Mr Hancock said: “It’s incredible to see this community spirit, as people pull together to lead us collectively out of the pandemic.
“I hope you will join me in thanking and congratulating all those involved in your area for the part they are playing in this national effort.”
