A headless corpse found in woodlands has been identified as a woman from Wembley.

Mee Kuen Chong, aged 67, was reported missing from Wembley on June 11 this year.

The disappearance prompted a social media response from people concerned for her welfare.

Two weeks after the initial police post, Harrow police shared a fresh appeal on June 24, posting: "Police need your help to find 67 year old Mee Chong who is missing from her home in Wembley."

Now a headless body found on June 27 in Salcombe, Devon, has been identified as Mrs Chong.

The incident has so far been described as an 'unexplained death' and a police source has confirmed that the body was found without a head.

Mrs Chong, also known as Deborah, was originally from Malaysia and said to be living in London since 2004.

Police said they would like to hear from anyone who may have seen her during her disappearance period between June 10 and June 27.

A spokesman said: "Enquiries remain ongoing into an unexplained death after a body was found in a wooded area near Bennett Road, Salcombe, on Sunday June 27.

“A number of enquiries will be carried out in Salcombe over the coming days, and it is likely that the local community will continue to see a high level of police activity.
