A man has been arrested during a police patrol tackling stolen cars in the area.
Three Rivers officers were patrolling South Oxhey on Monday (June 28), when they were alerted that a stolen car from Harrow was heading their way.
A search was held around South Oxhey to try find the car, but initially the officers were unable to find it.
Eventually, police figured out that the car may be heading back towards the Harrow area, and officers searched suspected routes it would take on its journey back.
The car was then followed by police after it drove by their unit, and it was eventually stopped on Clamp Hill in Stanmore – with a man, aged 31, inside.
Other car keys for a different vehicle were found during the search, and Hertfordshire Constabulary believe that the man was planning to head back to the scene of the crime to steal more vehicles.
Police records then showed the man was also wanted for going equipped to steal and handling stolen goods by British Transport Police, and he failed to appear to court.
He was then arrested and transferred to custody by Metropolitan Police so that he can appear at the next available court date.
The car itself was returned to the owner.
Metropolitan Police are now investigating the case.
