A woman shed more than two stone enabling her to achieve her "target weight" ahead of her wedding.
Kreeti Shah says she wanted to make a change because she "never felt happy" looking in the mirror.
Kreeti came across the Slimming World group in Hatch End and she has not looked back since.
She said: "It’s hard to admit, but I never felt happy looking in the mirror. I hated shopping for clothes because I’d never find the right fit. I would avoid going out with friends too. This is not to say that I was completely unhappy but that I was not comfortable with my body and my fitness level.
"I said to myself then and there I needed to do something and vowed that wherever I went I would stay for the sessions as I felt I need the support of a consultant as doing it on my own had not worked.
"When I heard about Slimming World, I joined with the intention of losing weight to be able to feel more comfortable.
"A couple weeks in, I began to set my goal for my June wedding. I just about to reach my goal when lockdown pushed my wedding by a few months, which I was ok with because in that time I managed to get to target."
Kreeti says Slimming World's Food Optimising eating plan, based on the science of satiety and energy density, meant that she never felt hungry or like she was on a diet.
She said: "I can eat anything I want. The recipes and plans are so easy to follow, and I never feel hungry. The meals can be as tasty too. As an Indian, we have oil in every dish but at our Slimming World group I learnt that I could swap from oil to fry light and it was so much easier than I thought it would be.
"So much so that my family have adapted to it now too."
Dr Jacquie Lavin, Slimming World head of nutrition and scientific affairs, said: "The approach behind food optimising has always been based on science: not just the physiological science of weight loss but also the psychology – how we think about (and our emotional reactions to) food, our weight and the process of losing weight.
"To lose weight, we need to consume fewer calories than we use. This creates an energy deficit and the body then starts to use its energy reserves, which are stored as body fat. At Slimming World, we want to help people lose weight and to maintain this weight loss in the long term – and this means offering a plan that’s easy to stick to and enjoyable, and is sustainable in the long term."
