A beautiful area has been "spoiled" with broken glass and piles of rubbish due to overflowing bins that have not been emptied in weeks.
Dog walkers and joggers say the North West London viewpoint in Pinner’s Wakehams Hill is covered in empty beer cans, crisp packets and plastic bags as two Harrow Council bins are left to overflow.
People living nearby say this “spoils a beautiful area”, while those who use the adjacent fields to walk their dogs said it has become a health and safety issue.
Ted Sturdy, who takes his dogs Pip and Lily on a daily stroll past the bins, said it has become a hotspot for litter.
He said: “It does seem to be a real point for people to gather. Sometimes you walk through it and you’ll be able to smell the grass people have been smoking.
“You can see the rubbish building up and, from a dog walking point of view, you have to be careful about broken glass.
“My wife reported the issue about a month ago but it’s just as bad. The council looks after the bins at the other end of the path but these ones have been left.
“If I was retired, I’d look into bagging it up and getting rid of it myself, but it’s not that easy when you can only pop out for half an hour at lunchtime.”
Another local resident who jogs up the path said it “should be cleared 100 per cent”.
He did not wish to give his name but said: “It’s a shame that it hasn’t been collected – it would look much better if it was clear.
“This area is popular with young people, particularly in the summer, who sit here with a few drinks and look out at the view.”
On social media, Pinner resident Sheena Kilcast said she had reported the issue on three occasions and the bins had last been collected no later than September 20.
