A viral video showed a gay man and trans woman being forced to leave a chicken shop after they were threatened with being stabbed.

The two, who were named by the BBC as Valentino Kyriakou and Naya Martinez, faced homophobic abuse as they were sat at Tasty Fried Chicken and Ribs at Bridge Street, just opposite Wembley Park station on January 20 at 6pm.

A video went viral on Tik Tok and Twitter showing the abuse, as a group of youths could be heard demanding that the two “get the f*** out now”.

They were told “you come back and I’ll shank you both”.

The video shows that the youths repeatedly demanded they leave the shop and take their food.

According to the BBC, Ms Martinez said the men were hurling transphobic and homophobic abuse at her.

She told the BBC: "Stuff like this within London in the LGBT community happens every day.

"I was surprised the video went that viral and it's getting people's attention.

"I'm glad this has happened because it might be the perfect opportunity for us to speak out and let the people know this stuff is actually happening - it's unbelievable."

Mr Kyriakou said: “I literally just thought they were about to stab us. They were just going crazy - it went from one to a hundred.

“They were so, so angry, I don't know why. They literally were so threatened by us - it was crazy. And all we were doing was standing there waiting to pick up our food."

There have been no arrests yet, but the Metropolitan Police say that police are aware of the video and “inquiries are under way” to identify those shown in the video.

While the Tik Tok video did make its rounds across the internet and was circulated across other platforms, it has since been removed and copies of the video are also being “proactively” removed by Tik Tok.
